My Discrete Professor on Circular Arguments

“Circular arguments really annoy me. How can you start off a proof with the statement of the result? If I claimed I could prove kangaroos are fish and began my demonstration with the statement ‘well obviously kangaroos are fish‘ you would scoff at my proof. However, most students see nothing wrong with the same foolishness in their own work. When I read circular arguments in the work of my students, I get the urge to hunt them down and beat them with a baseball bat. Due to a strange legislative oversight this is illegal. But remember that while the law may protect your body, it won’t protect your grade. Excuse me while I get professional help.”
