AAA Site Button 1

I’m proud to announce the release of the latest project, the new website for the TCNJ Asian American Association (TCNJ AAA)!

This site is a complete redesign of the old site, employing a number of new technologies. The initial design took about 1 month to get from a drawing on paper to the form you see it in now. Then I started PHP-izing it and setting up the content framework. The site was officially launched today, August 16th, in time for the new school year.

This site is distinct because it’s the first site that I’ve coded which has been developed entirely on Subversion. Subversion really helped speed the coding pace and kept all my previous versions safe in case I wanted to revert to some older version. Also, runs Subversion so I can roll out the most recent version of the site in one command, while having another copy on a test server to develop.

The site uses the same old homebrew PHP-templating system for all pages which I use on pretty much all my sites. This version is the most mature, complex version, and I aimed to make the coding for each page as elegant as possible. Also, the site uses Gallery 2 ( with a custom TCNJ AAA theme.

The new site maintains most of the old content and features, and makes some well-needed upgrades to certain sections. Namely, the photos section should be much easier to manage and is much more scalable. A concern about the old site was that it wasn’t very up to date. The News, Minutes, and Events sections now have a web-based custom administration back-end which should make updates quick and painless.

The site is still a work in progress, and if anyone has any suggestions, comments, or concerns, please email me or leave a comment!
